Red Carpet Ready
Monday on my AM walk (jog attempt), one day after preparing my client Angela Kinsey, for the SAG Awards red carpet, I thought about what it takes to make it in this town. Walking the red carpet or runway isn’t just about style and beauty; it also takes courage, strength, and a solid presence to handle all the judging eyes that are upon you. From my many years working up close with celebrities, models, and talent, I’ve learned a few tips... so what better time than now, to share them with you?
To FEEL Great (Inner Beauty):
Close your eyes, take deep slow breaths, and feel your energy filling your body. Visualize that energy turning into make-believe arms and hug yourself! Think of three key words that describe you or who you want to be (i.e.: courageous, free, happy, honest... anything). With each breath, visualize roots growing out of your feet and into the earth-roots of a strong huge magnificent tree. Now with each breath, fill your body with the feeling or essence of those three words your chose - feel it so strongly that it comes out of the top of your shoulders and pulls you even taller.
Now... open your eyes and go be it! Be fulfilled, be strong, and walk confident and tall. Also, do not focus solely on your “outside” - give of yourself, volunteer somewhere, find a hobby… it builds your character, and creates great conversation which makes you a deeper, more interesting person.
To LOOK Great (Red Carpet Beauty Tips):
This year, I focused on beautiful skin and lots of lashes. To prep Angela (Angela Kinsey who rocked the retro-Hollywood look!) I started out with “Eyedews” under-eye mask. I primed her skin with Temptu S/B Primer, then airbrushed her with Temptu foundation. Next, I added some blush and a fabulous “demi wispie” strip lash enhanced with Stila’s black eyeliner pen for a sharp winged eyeliner. With a little practice, you, too, can achieve Angela’s hot red carpet look!
